Job Description: 

As the Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the Company's financial health. This vital role will continue to shape our organization by leading the accounting team and building upon the Company's capability to capture, analyze, and package data into financial statements and actionable insights. This individual will be responsible for core financial reporting to the management team and the annual financial statement review. Along with the management team, this individual is charged with implementing and maintaining critical policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements and ad-hoc financial reporting. You will oversee all accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial reports, and support strategic financial planning. Additionally, you will partner with the Assistant Vice President of HR and Talent Management on various duties, including payroll and benefits, ensuring that the Company's policies and procedures are effectively implemented. This position reports directly to the President and will lead a team of 2-3 accounting professionals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the accounting department's daily operations, including month and end-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, and revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the CFO & President on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Partnering with HR to coordinate benefits administration and payroll processing.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations and filings.
  • Prepare a consolidated monthly financial reporting package for internal finance and management teams.
  • Prepare all supporting information for the annual financial statement review and consult with senior management and the external auditors as necessary to ensure a clean review for both annual financial statements and the Company retirement plan.
  • Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes and work with accounting staff to implement best practices for AP/AR processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Review monthly P&L and Balance Sheet results and support monthly/quarterly budget review meetings with department heads.
  • Support in ad hoc financial analysis and market research to support various projects and critical business initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to improve systems and financial performance.

 

Job Skills:

  • Experience holding final responsibility for the preparation of all financial data, reporting, and audit coordination for either a division or significant business area.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
  • Proficiency with accounting and financial reporting software, including QuickBooks Online and enterprise reporting platforms (Ex. Oracle, SAP, Workday).
  • A successful history in setting priorities; keen analytical eye, organization, and critical thinking skills which support and enable sound decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A motivated multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a demanding environment.
  • Experience and success in managing and leading staff.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of RideYellow.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a B.A./B.S., ideally in a quantitative field (accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, sciences); CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least three (3) years in an accounting manager or similar leadership role with a strong focus on General Ledger, Account Reconciliation, Financial Statements, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Mastery of three core financial statements and experience with detailed variance analysis.
