Job Summary
The Reaves Law Firm (RLF), a dynamic and growing law firm in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its Finance/Accounting Team. The position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will have the support of the Finance Team Leader and the Account Payables Specialist.
Duties/Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable staff
- Develop processes and job responsibilities for accounts payable and accounts receivable staff
- Assist CFO in the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
- Work with designated Tax Accountant to assist with tax preparation for law firm
- Works with the CFO and executive leadership to assist in establishing financial goals for the firm and providing a strategy to achieve them
- Works with the CFO and other executives to prepare and implement budgets and establish priorities for each department.
- Assist the CFO with managing payroll, month end/year end close, and tax activities to ensure compliance
- Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
- Monitor all financial transactions
- Prepare ad hoc reports
- Creates methods and processes for tracking expenses
- Compares profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Analyzes operations to identify inefficiencies and areas of need
- Assist CFO in devising strategies to save the firm money; preparing for executive meeting; and other business-related projects
- Performs other duties as assigned by the CFO and senior management
Qualifications/Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years of leadership/management experience
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting regulations
- Tax Experience preferred
- Excellent analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Quick Books Online Must, other accounting computer application systems
- Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Mathematical and deductive reasoning
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access various departments of a given location.
