The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting with the oversight of Webb AFM general ledger and accounting operations located at their headquarters in Cullman, Alabama. Individual will assume ownership of assigned duties and tasks within the business unit, displaying initiative, analysis, and problem-solving skills, improving and maintaining the value of financial data, and working with the Assistant Controller to ensure the timely and accurate filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information.
Essential Functions
- Resolve issues related to financial data and critical issues as they develop, solving routine and complex problems promptly with minimal guidance
- Prepare and perform month-end closing procedures for the Company in compliance with accounting standards under US GAAP
- Assist company Assistant Controller with the preparation of financial statements including but not limited to Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and management reports
- Help in maintaining a standard cost system
- Assist inventory coordinator with annual physical inventory and review inventory counts
- Understand, supervise and manage all daily accounting functions including accounts payable, inventory, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll
- Maintain integrity of general ledger and perform monthly review and reconciliation of all ledger accounts
- Prepare consolidation of related divisions for the company including required eliminating and intercompany transactions
- Conduct analysis, provide data, and report on variances to monthly forecasts
- Assist with preparation of annual budget and perform monthly analysis around variances based on comparative budget to actual results
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the management team and colleagues to meet business goals and objectives
- Prepare and distribute critical date reports; maintain tickler system for tracking important dates and tasks
- Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports in a timely, accurate manner
- Gain a full understanding of company functions which include but are not limited to product cost, customers, cost structure pricing, inventory, key competitors, key cost drivers, and competitive advantages
- Other duties may be assigned
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of state and federal financial and tax regulations
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Excellent math and computer skills including MS Office, Hyperion, Essbase and MAS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training.
- Manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
- CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
- CPA and/or MBA or master's level graduate degree a plus
- Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal group.
- Requires general knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP) and general ledger accounting.
- Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.
