The Post Office Credit Union of Maryland ($32M; Baltimore MD) is seeking is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Specialist to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join an established credit union with a rich tradition of service.

Is This the Career for You?
The Accounting Specialist at the Post Office CU of Maryland will maintain accurate financial records, process ACH and Share Draft reports, and perform general accounting duties. This role requires a high level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Additional responsibilities include: processing daily financial transactions, reconciling general ledger accounts, and the Corporate Account, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and reports. You will also assist in month-end closing procedures as well as handle the accounts payable/receivable functions.

The Accounting Specialist will also need to understand and handle IRS and State of Maryland yearly filings eg: IRS 990, 945, and Maryland Business Registration, daily check clearings and reconciliations, Corporate Account postings, and prepaid, fixed asset, and accrual accounts. An ability to prepare 5300 reports, and work with examiners and auditors is also necessary. This is not an all-inclusive description and other functions may be assigned as necessary.
