Job Summary/Objective:
The Accounting Manager at Bake’n Joy is responsible for overseeing the daily management of the accounts payable, accounts receivable/credit, trade spend, and fixed assets at the Company. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial information, supports the Director of Finance in financial controls and policy development, and manages back office operations. The Accounting Manager is also integral to the company’s strategic financial planning and compliance efforts, ensuring that all financial activities meet or exceed food-manufacturing standards.
Essential Functions:
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of internal financial information related to accounts receivable/credit, accounts payable, trade spend, and fixed assets at the end of each fiscal period, ensuring accurate reflection of financial results. Identify and report on any unusual fluctuations or events.
- Management Reporting: Prepare monthly management metrics of departmental operational results, highlighting key items for consideration.
- Year-End Activities: Supervise the preparation of year-end audit schedules related to accounts payable, accounts receivable/credit, trade spend and fixed assets and collaborate with external audit staff.
- Inventory Management: Reconcile, close and report on Inventory monthly working with Inventory Control Cost Accounting Manager on activities.
- Staff Management: Hire, train, and supervise the non-exempt staff, ensuring team effectiveness and development.
- ERP System Management: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the financial aspects of the ERP system, ensuring accurate and efficient use.
- Fixed Assets: Manage the monthly accounting for the company’s fixed assets, capital leases and depreciation in accordance with corporate policies.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger and related records for affiliated entities.
- Account Analysis: Reconcile account analysis schedules for the areas of responsibility; ensuring discrepancies are addressed.
- Policy Development: Assist in the development and updating of financial policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility.
- Budgeting: Participate in the preparation and input of the annual budget. Review departmental budget vs. actual results and investigate significant variances.
- Credit Management: Regularly review accounts with the credit administrator and provide support as needed.

- Supervisory Skills: Proven experience in leading and motivating a team.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial ERP systems.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Cost Accounting Knowledge: In-depth understanding of cost accounting principles.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises the non-exempt Finance Staff, providing guidance and oversight.
Work Environment:
- This role is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment. Occasional exposure to manufacturing areas with higher noise levels and temperature variations may occur.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to operate office equipment, and communicate effectively. The role may involve occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.

- Standard work hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
Travel:
- Minimal travel is required, typically local.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, depending on educational background.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
