Accounting Manager – Corporate Office (Hybrid) | San Diego, CA

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team at our corporate office in San Diego, CA. This position is a Full-Time | Salary | Full Benefits

Pay Range: $90,000 - $95,000 / Yr

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Accounting
    • Review and sign checks, as required.
    • Approve releasing wires.
    • Work with auditors
    • Special projects as required.
    • Assist in uploading and tracking budgets; Update daily batches and process check pulls.
    • Create and coordinate with programmer special owner formats.
    • Cover for other team members as needed.
  2. Staffing
    • Attract, identify, recruit, and retain qualified associates for all positions in the department.
    • Interview and evaluate applicants.
    • Manage staff to comply with CONAM’s employment policies and all local, state, and federal laws pertaining to employment and compensation.
    • Monitor and evaluate work performed in the department by applying accounting principles to all financial operations. Assist with month end closings.
    • Observe and inspect the activities and work product of associates to ensure accuracy and reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and all sub ledgers.
    • Assess each associate’s work performance, prepare performance evaluations, and meet personally with each associate to discuss the evaluation. Establish goals for improved performance. Make recommendations to Controller for changes in compensation.
    • Strive to resolve employment issues and, if necessary, seek assistance from senior management or Human Resources in order to resolve problems. Ensure that associates are trained in CONAM policies, procedures, and job performance requirements.
    • Provide initial and ongoing training, as needed. Conduct regular staff meetings to reinforce CONAM policies, standards, and expectations.
    • Promote educational programs as appropriate and train associates to become more proficient at their jobs.
    • Review management reports to ensure accuracy and account thoroughness. Provide guidance and support for all audit activities, as well as for owner and agency reporting requirements.
  3. Communication
    • Return calls and emails within 24 hours of receiving and acknowledging receipt providing estimated timing on responding to request.
    • Answer and provide support to internal and external customers, including regional and community personnel, associates in other CONAM departments, and property owners or their representatives.
    • Communicate and help fellow Accounting staff, ensuring all projects are complete and accurate.
  4. All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Accounting degree or equivalent strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Property Management industry experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
