POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accounting Assistant supports key financial processes, including account reconciliations, mortgage payment processing, and disbursement management. This role ensures accuracy in daily and monthly reconciliations, facilitates loan closings, and contributes to month-end processing. The Accounting Assistant also assists with internal and external audits, maintains financial records, and supports various administrative tasks to ensure efficient financial operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation of daily & monthly account reconciliations for various accounts and general ledgers.
Daily processing of mortgage payments for our HUD loans, including processing internal transfers and wire transfers.
ACH processing for mortgage payments.
Process vouchers for all bridge and HUD releases that include wires, checks, e-checks and internal transfers.
Assist with audit support for internal and external reviews.
Prepare Ginnie Mae advance and payment collection.
Perform next day audit of mortgage payments.
Research outdated/cleared items and contact the appropriate party for follow up.
Daily scanning of transaction support.
Prepare boxes for offsite storage.
OFAC verification for all disbursements.
Perform Quarterly Audits of HUD client files.
Processing/verification of quarterly and year-end financial statements from clients and completing/verifying data entry in the Access database.
Procuring State Health Surveys and completing data entry for survey findings.
Miscellaneous duties as requested from both internal and external clients.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Skilled working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
2 to 5 years accounting experience preferred.
Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: We offer a hybrid schedule, with 3 days inoffice and 2 days remote after the initial 90-day period.

COMPENSATION DISCLOSURE:
In accordance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are committed to providing transparent wage information for all posted job opportunities. The wage range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000 annually. Compensation is determined based on factors such as Experience, Qualifications, and Internal equity.
