Gillman Auto Group is happy to announce the search for an Accounting Manager to partner with the Dealership Controller in managing the accounting department for its three dealerships in the Schertz suburb of San Antonio, Texas.

The Accounting Manager will work in unison and report to the Dealership Controller and assist in maintaining timely and accurate financial records of the three dealerships as well as the implementation and promotion of the companies’ internal controls.

What we are looking for:

  • Maintain effective communication with the accounting office staff, Controller, and General Manager.
  • Acute knowledge of dealership accounting and financial statements.
  • Analyze and interpret accounting data when requested by the Controller, General Manager, and corporate offices.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all accounting schedules and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing expense accounts for opportunities to increase net profit.
  • Work with accounting staff to ensure that all transactions are recorded to the general ledger timely and accurately according to company guidelines and policies.
  • Assist in audits (floorplan, inventory, parts inventory, sales tax, and manufacturer).
  • Assist in the preparation and publication of monthly financial statements.
  • Promote a positive work environment and serve as a mentor to the accounting staff through recruitment and training.
  • Supervise cross training to promote collaboration and teamwork, communication, and operational efficiency.
  • Assist the Controller with projects and other tasks as assigned.
  • Automotive industry accounting (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Reynolds & Reynolds or UCS experience (preferred)
  • Ability to solve problems and a strong attention to detail.
  • Be role model and mentor to the accounting staff.
  • Motivate and lead by example.
  • A valid drivers license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.
