We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, supervising three direct reports, and ensuring financial processes are efficient, accurate, and compliant with all regulations. This role is designed for a candidate who aspires to grow within the organization and take on more leadership responsibility and presence.

  • Manage the organization’s financial accounts, payroll, budgets, cash flow, and financial assets.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate closing of month end, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee and manage the calculation and recording of accruals to ensure expenses are reflected in the financial statements; review projects that have been started but not completed, parts accruals, and subcontractor accruals.
  • Verify payroll to ensure it is completed on time and accurately.
  • Manage state registrations for unemployment insurance, paid family medical leave (PFML), and workers compensation to ensure the organization is compliant, complete necessary reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
    Monitor budget performance and variances and provide recommendation for corrective actions to support long term financial planning.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing required documentation and explanations to CPA.
  • Prepare data for tax returns by pulling necessary reports, including month and yearly close data, sales by state, prior year payments, and payroll information by state; manage estimated tax payments throughout the year.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP.
  • Lead, manage, and hold a team of three accountable by setting performance goals, providing feedback, and ensuring team adherence to deadlines and best practices


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
  • Experience leading a small team is a plus
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Salesforce
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills
