The Senior Accounting Manager will perform specialized accounting work to maintain the general ledger. Reporting to the CFO, this role oversees daily accounting operations, directing accounting staff to ensure accurate recording of revenues, expenses, assets, and liabilities. The Senior Accounting Manager will lead in preparing annual financial statements and coordinating the client's audit. This position requires a motivated self-starter with experience in supervision, review, and proofing. Responsibilities : Manage daily activities of the Business Office, including tuition payments, communications with parents, and annual tuition spreadsheet preparation. Oversee daily accounting operations, maintaining SPSCC's general ledger. Supervise and review the work of accounting staff (e.g., reconciliations, accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, revenue and expense recording, etc.). Conduct cash management, including fund placement/movement in various trusts. Maintain detailed records and documentation of financial transactions. Resolve complex accounting issues and assist SPSCC personnel with financial matters. Review monthly general ledger for accuracy and produce monthly financial reports for board meetings. Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including financial statement preparation. Recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures. Perform other assigned duties. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles. Experience with philanthropy/non-profit accounting practices. Ability to establish financial policies and procedures. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Knowledge of operating and capital budget concepts. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare timely, accurate reports. Familiarity with payroll, benefits, and personnel policies. Proficient with MS Office Suite, NetSuite, and financial management systems. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and adapt to varying conditions. Collaborative team player, capable of establishing effective relationships with the public and governing authorities. Education & Experience Required : Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum 5 years of experience in budget preparation, accounting, payroll, and accounts receivable/payable management At least 2 years managing or supervising a team or individual
