Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to join our growing team. This role is critical in supporting the company’s financial health and strategic growth. The Director of Accounting & Finance will oversee the company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance while providing key insights to drive decision-making. This individual must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a minimum of 8 years of experience in both public and private accounting roles, ideally with experience in fast-growing startups or SaaS companies.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Prepare and manage the company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements and ensure accuracy in financial statements.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants to ensure accurate and timely filings.
Accounting Operations:
Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Work closely with department heads to develop annual budgets, track variances, and analyze financial performance.
Prepare financial forecasts and models to support strategic decision-making and investor reporting.
Strategic Financial Planning:
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop short-term and long-term financial strategies to support the company’s growth.
Assist in evaluating new business initiatives, pricing strategies, and expansion opportunities.
Provide financial insights to the leadership team on cost management, revenue optimization, and profitability.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a growing finance and accounting team, including recruiting and developing talent.
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
Qualifications:
CPA required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in both public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent preferred) and private industry.
Experience in a high-growth startup, SaaS, or technology environment is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, with experience in internal controls and audit compliance.
Proven ability to manage a diverse range of financial responsibilities from accounting to budgeting and forecasting.
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and work cross-functionally.
Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred:
Experience in fundraising, investor relations, and financial strategy in a Series A/B startup.
Familiarity with SaaS revenue models, subscription billing, and KPI tracking.
