Your Key Job FunctionsThe Lease Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall accounting for leases in accordance with the FASB?s Accounting Standard Codification Topic 842, Leases (?ASC842?) and jointly directs, supervises, and reviews the work of an offshore lease accounting team and will supervise one Brinker team memeber. The role reports directly to the Senior Manager ? Property Accounting. Key duties and responsibilities of the role follow: Update ASC842 schedules in lease software tool for new and modified leases, as appropriate Read and review relevant lease excerpts Determine lease classification between operating and finance for relevant leases, including coordination with third-party valuation specialists Coordinate with Treasury to obtain IBR on a quarterly basis Review and post monthly ASC842 journal entry for domestic and Canadian lease properties Run required monthly and quarterly disclosure reports from the lease software tool Prepare or review required monthly or quarterly balance sheet reconciliations between the General Ledger and lease accounting tool Prepare or review required monthly or quarterly lease rollforwards Overall responsibility for timely payment of rent and related amounts due to landlords and researching landlord inquiries Coordinate with lease legal team regarding estoppels or other ad hoc requests Assist as needed with review of CAM reconciliations provided by landlords Assist with annual impairment analysis for long-lived right-of-use assets Request contribution reimbursements from landlords, as needed Review sales or other financial reports sent to landlords and respond to landlord inquiries Responsible for accounting for subleases Assist in the budgeting/forecasting process as needed Complete special projects and analyses for management requiring analysis of financial information as requested Work collaboratively with others within and outside the function to achieve goals, simplify processes, reduce costs, prevent loss, and to ensure that work is completed safely, accurately, and on time Responsible for internal controls and process narratives for applicable job functions Responsible for adhering with all employment policies as stated in the employee handbook provided or as provided by a supervisor What You Bring to the Team Strong written and verbal communications skills and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interface with all levels within the organization Degree in Accounting (or equivalent experience) Experience in retail/hospitality industry and/or a public company environment preferred Proficient with Microsoft Excel; experience with Smartview preferred Attention to detail and data quality control Possess proficient analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills Work independently and effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently; able to multi-task and adapt quickly to a dynamic work environmentWhy Brinker Eat Free at Chili?s Enjoy a complimentary dining card to Chili?s and discount to Maggiano?s.
