About This Opportunity
The Director GL Accounting is responsible for overseeing all aspects of general ledger accounting and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This strategic leader will drive operational efficiencies, establish robust policies and procedures, and manage international accounting structures. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
What You Will Do
- Manage and optimize the general ledger system, including chart of accounts, reconciliations, and journal entries, ensuring scalability and alignment with business goals.
- Develop and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to maintain compliance with GAAP/IFRS and other relevant standards.
- Oversee and enhance the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Lead the implementation of internal controls and other regulatory compliance measures.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
- Partner with FP&A and other departments to provide actionable financial insights and support decision-making.
- Manage international accounting structures and processes to support global operations, including statutory compliance and legal entity setup.
- Review the global structure of the company to ensure the general ledger and accounting processes are aligned with the organization's international operations.
- Oversee the payroll function, including the implementation and maintenance of payroll systems, compliance with labor laws, and the accurate and timely processing of employee paychecks.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants and analysts, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or CMA preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in setting up and managing general ledger systems, including chart of accounts, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Proficient in the use of accounting software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing accounting teams.
- Experience in reviewing and optimizing global accounting structures and overseeing payroll operations.
