About this role
We are seeking for a high potential, results-oriented Cost Accountant to perform financial and cost accounting activities. This position will oversee operational activities and other accounting activities performed by manufacturing locations during the month to include oversight of monthly and quarterly activities. Responsible for reconciliations and balance sheet reviews. Executes complex manufacturing activities to include but not limited to cost accounting, inventory accounting, manufacturing accounting and other higher-level general accounting activities as defined by Controllership. Candidate must possess strong analytical skills and ability to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and manage annual costing and inventory activities
- Maintain inventory standard costs in ERP system, determine root cause of costing issues and implement corrective action as required
- Executes monthly and quarterly closing activities including movements in standard cost revaluation account and ensure monthly entries are recorded properly. Identify and resolve any non-cost revaluation entries
- Execute and deliver manufacturing activities, execute reconciliations, and perform balance sheet reviews
- Oversight and support for quarterly excess and obsolete calculations
- Participation in execution and reconciliation of annual physical inventory
- Reconcile sub-ledgers to general ledgers
- Work closely with business partners and support external related audits
- Maintain appropriate internal controls
- Participate in ad-hoc tasks/projects as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3-5 years experience
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting principles
- Self-motivated, able to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA, CPA/CMA
- JD Edwards (JDE) and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) system knowledge
- Experience with manufacturing cost systems
- MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
