Job Overview
Located in Northern NJ, Restoration 1 New Jersey is the area’s premier restoration, clean-up and reconstruction company. We are seeking an experienced Accounting Professional with Human Resources experience to join our leadership team. This role reports to the CEO and will collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to ensure smooth financial transactions, manage human resources, and support our mission of restoring homes and businesses after disasters.
The Controller/HR Manager's responsibilities will focus on directing the accounting, financial planning, policy, and analysis activities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as manage HR activities related to staffing, benefits, policies, compliance and staff performance planning and tracking. Building a team to help execute these tasks will be a near-term goal.
As the company’s Controller, the incumbent will be responsible for all financial functions including Accounts Payable /Accounts Receivables, budgets, credit, insurance, tax, and cash management and financial reports. They will manage the financial and fiscal operations by preparing Monthly Management Financial Statements with detailed explanation of results for the Month, Year-To-Date and Compared to Prior Years, and finalize year-end financial results and assure that tax returns are filed in a timely manner. This will be 75-80% of the role’s responsibility.
As the Human Resources Manager, the incumbent will maintain personnel records, manage benefits including healthcare, and 401K, and they will manage all processes related to recruiting, hiring, on-boarding and employee terminations. They will help ensure employee engagement aligned with the company’s objectives and goals and help promote Restorations One’s mission, vision, and values. This will be 25-20% of the role’s responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
- Other related education or job experience will be considered
- Accounting certifications a plus
- 5+ years of full charge bookkeeping experience
- Solid understanding of accounting principles
- Proven high level skills in finance and accounting
- Experience preparing financial reports/statements
- Financial Forecasting & Planning
- Proficiency in accounting software packages (Quickbooks)
- Knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices, such as project cost tracking and vendor management is highly valued
- 2+ years of HR experience in a small office environment
- Knowledge of employment law (EEO, FLSA, DOL, DHR) and best practices
- Demonstrated Business Acumen
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience reporting to business owners highly valued
- Experience in a restoration service or construction office a plus
- Interpersonal skills to work with associates and interface with clients
- Ability to interact directly with vendors and subcontractors
- Fluent in English; Spanish language skills a plus

To the qualified candidate we offer:
- A full-time position with an annual salary between $95,000 - $103,000
