Job Description
Hamilton-Madison House is a nonprofit settlement house dedicated to improving the quality of life of its community, primarily the Two Bridges/Chinatown area of Manhattan's Lower East Side. The House provides a wide range of programs and services designed to enhance the quality of life for all residents of the Two Bridges/Chinatown area and throughout New York City’s five boroughs, including childcare, youth development, senior services, behavioral health, and immigrant and community services. The Accounting Reporting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to accounting and financial reporting. Working under the direction of the CFO, the Accounting Reporting Manger directs and coordinates daily accounting activities. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing annual financial statements and annual audits. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting reporting tasks and activities. The Accounting Reporting Manager is also expected to formulate and develop departmental and organizational budgets.
Responsbilities:
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close and reporting
- Initiate budget and forecasting activities. Assist with annual budget preparation process
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Interface with other departments to verify transaction report and issues
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routing reporting transactions
- Responds to the CFO regarding financial results and special reporting requests
- Work with the retained CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year end audit
- Ensure financial deadlines are met
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department
- Oversee bi-weekly payroll process and payroll tax filing
- Project and analyze monthly expense report for Program Directors
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from and accredited college and seven (10) years or more of satisfactory full-time experience with audit, contract reporting, budgets, and financial reporting in Non-profit Sector
- Knowledge of governmental regulation /contracts & budgeting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail and accuracy
- Works well under pressure, meets tight deadlines and target, and able to deliver effective results
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team.
- Experience with Fund EZ and ADP workforce Now is required
- Proficiency in MS Office & Excel
Compensation: $75,000 Annual
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (In-person)
