Machine Shop Manager/Tool and Die Maker Classification:

Pay:

$35 – $46 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective:

QC Manufacturing, Inc. is a dynamic and innovative high-tech manufacturing company located in Temecula, CA. We manufacture QuietCool ventilation products. With substantial growth across the country, we are looking for an engineer that can help work with our team to take our products to the next level.

We are looking for a skilled Machine Shop Manager that is a team player and can bring their skills and talents to make an immediate impact.

Essential Functions:

Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.

Program and operate CNC Machines; Mill, Lathe, Wire EDM, Grinder, etc.

Operate manual machines; Mill, Lathe, Grinder, etc.

Machine and assemble custom tool and dies for sheet metal bending, stamping, forming, punching, and clinching.

Develop a structured workflow to ensure efficient project completion.

Develop clear and visual metrics for efficiency, quality, and safety.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment following 5S guidelines.

Perform routine machine maintenance and repair damage on tooling.

Develop preventative maintenance schedules and processes for developed tooling.

Ensure that machines, tools, and gauges are properly calibrated and fit for use.

Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel for tooling and program improvements.

Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations such as CAL/OSHA.

Assist in designing and building custom machines that process steel coils that get fed into tool and dies that perform the function of bending, stamping, forming, punching, and clinching.

Work with vendors to supply materials and outsource operations like heat treatments.

Competencies:

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tool design, and use of CNC machines.

Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques.

Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.

Problem-solving ability.

High-level communication skills both verbal and nonverbal.

Willingness (Ability) to occasionally work late shifts or long hours.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a machine shop environment. Although some elements require working in an office, this role mainly will be in the machine shop. You are regularly exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable. These sounds come from machines and equipment that are constantly running. Can be exposed to hazardous coolants and lubricants. While working in the machine shop, all required PPE must be followed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift a maximum of 100 pounds unassisted, waist high, up to 10 feet away, and up to 140 pounds of weight assisted.

Required Education and Experience:

Trade School, Certifications, or relevant training.

10+ years of experience programming CNC Lathes, Mills, Grinders, etc.

10+ years of experience with CNC machinery and conventional machining.

10+ years of experience with tool and die with an emphasis in sheet metal stamping, forming, bending, and punching.

3-5 years of experience in a managerial role.

10+ years using CAD, Mastercam, or equivalent software.

Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements.

Proficient knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.

Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as applied to machinery development.

10+ years of experience reading blueprints, schematics, and manuals.

Good at math with analytical abilities.

Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.

3-5 years of experience using Solidworks or equivalent software.

Forklift experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Working knowledge of plastic injection molding machinery methods.

Working knowledge of stamping tool and dies.
