Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a

Sr. Loan Servicing Specialist

Performs a wide variety of loan servicing tasks related to loan operations and/or processing, from minor to complex processes or functions. Proactively identifies issues or needed changes, recommends resolution, and participates in quality improvement efforts. Takes accountability for the entire process from receipt of work to resolution and closure. Tasks require coordination of information among various operational areas and customers. Utilizes multiple system applications. Assists in multiple areas of the department in the completion of duties as directed by management.

What you will be doing:

Loan file management, to include scanning and retrieval of documents from various applications/sources that assist with production and audit requests. Resolves any loan exceptions or corrections, research payment issues and discrepancies. Provide callback support of processors daily work and tickler management as assigned.

Provides prompt, courteous, and excellent customer service to internal and external clients. Required to actively cooperate and interact with other departments to advance the overall interests of the bank. Other duties as assigned.

May be responsible for various tasks/responsibilities in any or all of the following areas of concentration:

File Management (Scanning/filing): Works with various loan documents both in-house and attorney drawn. Identifies and differentiates all types of loan documents to be scanned to the proper account. Organizes incoming documents from both title and interoffice mail, while updating reports to monitor documents received to keep track of the outstanding sets. Uses scanner and FISERV programs.

Collateral Management (Paid Loans, perfection and release): Having a firm understanding of the complete loan payoff process, reviews and processes loan payoffs. Manages the release of collateral and reviews paid off packages, to ensure all transactions and supporting documentation is completed accurately. Working with operating systems such as VINTEK, CoreLogic, First American Title, processes cashier’s checks.

Insurance & Escrow Processing: With a solid knowledge of loan servicing and regulatory requirements, works with a third-party tracking vendor to complete insurance tracking as it relates to the lender placement of coverage, flood insurance tracking, and setting up and maintaining escrow accounts for property taxes and insurance. Tasks include tracking, updating third-party records, reviewing and working various reports and notices, lender force placement processing, and refund processing. Tracks flood insurance following proper regulations as it relates to funding. Completes escrow processing to include setting up new escrow accounts for property taxes and insurance, preparing initial disclosures, and making timely disbursements for both property taxes and insurance as well as escrow analysis.

Transaction Processing: Has an advanced understanding of loan terminology and documentation pertaining to all collateral and loan types. Reviews and posts payments, prepares loan payoff demands, processes payoff funds, completes loan service requests, loan file maintenance as requested, participation loan remittance, SWAP balancing and remittance, GL balancing, Exception Monitoring, aged item reporting with monthly certification, and verification of mortgage (VOM) tasks. Responsible for Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) related functions including reconciliation of MERS records for reporting and audit purposes. Completes Fiserv report reviews. Communicates with borrowers, answering questions and reviewing documentation pertaining to all collateral and loan types.

Callback and Boarding & Callback Processing: Demonstrates a solid understanding of loan documentation and the core processing system, Fiserv Premier. Responsible for funding wire transactions, internally through General Ledger and Deposit accounts, and from Title Company transactions. Handles all levels of loan products including consumer-Mortgage and Home Equity loans, Commercial and Commercial Real Estate.

Investor Processing – Works with various investor agencies, including FarmerMac, FannieMae, SBA, and USDA. Handles daily reporting and settlement required by various agencies. Interacts with each agency as needed; contributing to research and audit needs as requested.

Who you are:

High school or GED degree required.

3 years of loan servicing experience required.

Regulatory knowledge of Flood and/or Escrow Processing preferred.

Experience in Fiserv Premier and Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS).

Loan servicing experience; good understanding of loan terminology.

Proficiency with both Word and Excel.

Experience with systems such as Fiserv Premier, Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS), as well as other third-party agencies, and vendors.

Experience with different investor agencies such as FarmerMac, FannieMae, SBA, and USDA.

Possess excellent human relations, communications, and business writing skills.

Ability to work effectively with limited direct supervision.

Ability to comprehend and interpret Bank policies and procedures.

Possess effective time management and organizational skills.

Demonstrates teamwork in facilitating workflow. High level of cooperation with others and is responsive to the Bank’s needs.

Pay Range: $28.00- $39.00 hourly

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
