Job Description
Position Overview:
Reporting to the VP/Controller, the Director of Accounting will be responsible for directing and leading the accounting operations for the National Park Foundation. The Director will have responsibility for developing and improving the staff and processes
Essential Functions/Duties/Tasks:

- Manage the day to day accounting operations, including month end close.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly financial closing process up to financial statement preparation.
- Manage the transaction process functions including payroll, AP, AR, cash, fixed assets, investments, and general ledger.
- Mange the transaction workflow and related internal controls
- Assist the Controller and CFO with cash management
- Manage the annual financial audit
- Manage the Form 990 filing
- Manage federal grant reporting and related compliance
- Maintain current knowledge on non-profit accounting, tax compliance, and industry best practice.
- Responsible for Federal drawdowns and reporting to include SF-424 and SF-425 reporting
Provide financial guidance and support to department heads, and ensure that all financial decisions are in alignment with the organization strategic goals
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Create and maintain effective relationships with peers and co-workers.

- Technical aptitude and desire to leverage NPF’s investment in technology to improve operations.
- Desire and ability to develop staff in a growth-oriented organization, including providing direct and candid performance feedback.
- Non-profit accounting competence sufficient to prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Experience with Single Audit and Uniform Guidance
Experience with SEFA compilation
Preferred education and experience:
- BS in Accounting
- CPA desired
- 10 years of professional experience, with 3 as a supervisor
- NetSuite or other complex accounting system
- High proficiency at Excel
