Job Overview: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our accounting team. The Accounting Assistant will provide administrative support to ensure efficient operations of the department, handle day-to-day accounting functions, and maintain accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and be eager to contribute to the success of the firm. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries. 

  • Process invoices, expense reports, and payments while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. 

  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts regularly. 

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations. 

  • Maintain organized financial records and ensure all documentation is properly filed and archived. 

  • Support the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and other reports as needed. 

  • Assist in the preparation of audit documentation and ensure compliance with internal controls. 

  • Handle vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. 

  • Provide administrative support to the accounting department, including data entry, answering phone calls, and managing correspondence. 

  • Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager. 

Qualifications: 

  • An associate degree in accounting or finance is preferred. 

  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably in a legal or professional services environment. 

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP). 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) is a plus. 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
