We are actively recruiting a Partner with a strong background in technical accounting to join our Accounting Advisory team. This individual should have a strong network in the Greater NYC / NJ area(s).

The Accounting Advisory Services Group assists finance leaders in addressing the strategic accounting and financial reporting challenges facing their businesses and finance functions. DLA's Advisory team has significant U.S. GAAP, PCAOB, SEC, and SOX expertise to help identify and resolve matters early on and target exactly what needs to be done. Our Accounting Advisory Services Include:

  • Drafting financial statement and related disclosures (including 10-K and 10-Q's)
  • IPO readiness - SOX 404 and accounting matters pertaining to an IPO
  • Hot topics - revenue recognition, leases, consolidation, and other new pronouncements
  • Internal controls/policies and procedures
  • Technical accounting matters/complex accounting issues
  • Audit preparation and assistance with external auditors
  • Improving accounting department function
  • Staff augmentation/interim CFO and Controller roles


The Partner in Accounting Advisory position will help the Accounting Advisory Practice Leader primarily with oversight over the service line and engagement teams. As a leader of the firm, the Partner will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Help lead the growth of an Advisory practice by developing and implementing strategic and tactical plans in accordance with DLA's mission and vision and the commitment to always act as a trusted partner to our clients
  • Elevate the DLA brand by demonstrating thought leadership and embracing our marketing and sales programs
  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with the goal of expanding the DLA brand in acquiring new clients, projects, and revenue for the Firm
  • Lead and manage multiple concurrent engagements within the Accounting Advisory practice to provide technical accounting and financial or business advisory guidance to clients
  • Assist in managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of complex accounting concepts to support Firm initiatives and development opportunities with internal knowledge sharing and panel discussions
  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the development and execution of the consulting work plan and client deliverables
  • Collaborate directly with firm specialists/subject matter experts on complex accounting matters
  • Responsible for ensuring the engagement team has an in-depth understanding of the client's business
  • Support the growth and development of team members, helping these individuals meet their professional goals.


Knowledge & Skills:
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting; masters or advanced degree is desirable
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 15 years related experience in public accounting and/or industry accounting, with strong financial services and/or real estate industry expertise
  • Substantial revenue generation track record in a professional services setting required
  • Strong technical accounting skills and a working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills with experience producing and delivering communications to the executive level
  • Entrepreneurial nature, self-motivated, ethical, and dependable with commitment to quality client service
  • Interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster client relationships
  • Actively participates in firm marketing and business development with demonstrated ability to acquire new business and increase brand recognition
  • Strong computer proficiency, specifically with MS Office.
