We are hiring a Corporate Controller who reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for building and leading a high performing team and establish a strong controls and reporting environment to support the company’s strategic vision. The Controller will provide accurate and insightful information and is responsible for all financial, technical accounting and reporting requirements and will be a thought partner to the CFO and the executive team to support decision making.

The Role
As the Corporate Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of the organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, implementing and enforcing financial policies and procedures, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth objectives. You will provide financial and strategic leadership to the organization by overseeing all aspects of finance, accounting, treasury, tax, audit, risk management, and investor relations. You will also partner with other senior leaders to drive operational execution and value creation across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Analysis:
- Oversee the day-to-day financial activities of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Manage the month-end close process, maintaining reconciliation schedules, draft variance analysis timely.
- Work with FP&A to deliver monthly reports and final variance analysis
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company's liquidity and financial stability and in compliance with all debt covenants.
- Implement effective cash management strategies.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to executive management and private equity stakeholders.
- Lead the team through a first-year audit with a top 10 CPA firm
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements for audit readiness
Internal Controls:
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Identify and address areas for improvement in internal processes and controls.
- Document and maintain accounting policies to ensure financial and operational integrity.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure the company is compliant with all debt covenants and promptly deliver financial reports as required under the credit agreement on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and update policies accordingly.
- Ensure the company is compliant with all federal, state and local tax filing requirements including annual tax returns, sales tax filings and commercial rent tax filings.
- Oversee the lease administration and landlord reporting function to ensure prompt delivery of monthly landlord reports and accurate monthly rent payments.
Team Leadership:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing accounting team that delivers timely and accurate financial information and insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the team is well-equipped to handle day-to-day operations and special projects.
- Restructure the accounting reporting team for the company's managed client business.
- The company has double digit clients with plans to expand this business segment.
- Serve as a key member of the finance leadership team, maintaining in-depth relationships with each member, participating in key decisions with the team and providing leadership and expertise to local leadership in areas accounting policies and cost management.
Technology and Process Improvement:
- Lead the implementation of a new ERP system and contribute to the design and automation of financial reports.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in finance and support center processes, systems, policies, and controls.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance financial systems and workflows.
Ad Hoc Analysis and Special Projects:
- Undertake special projects and conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required by executive management and private equity partners.
Education And Other Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting
- CPA required.
- Proven experience as a Controller, preferably in a private equity-backed environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Start up experience a plus
- SEC reporting a plus
- Experience in monthly reporting
