**About Our Client:**
Our client is seeking a Senior Accounting Consultant to lead their accounting function during a transitional period.
**Job Description:**
This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring compliance with financial regulations while providing mentorship to the accounting team.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage daily accounting tasks, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
- Oversee General Ledger operations, journal entries, AP, AR, and payroll functions.
- Ensure accurate and timely submissions of external documents and regulatory filings.
- Serve as a liaison with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports for senior management.
- Enhance accounting systems and reporting processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Mentor and supervise accounting staff, promoting best practices and compliance.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the government contracting sector.
- Expertise in Deltek CostPoint (version 8) with the ability to support post-implementation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a polished professional demeanor.
**Additional Details:**
- Work Environment: In-office position located in Germantown, MD.
- Schedule: Flexible hours within a 9-5 framework, following a 9/80 work week.
