This Consultant Consultant will play an instrumental role in assisting clients from different industries in a variety of diverse projects that can include (seeking candidates with at least 2 areas of the following expertise):
- Financial Reporting/ Operational accounting
- SEC Reporting
- Operational/ Transformation accounting
- ERP system implementation
- FP&A
Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end close process, including maintaining the general ledger and sub ledgers, prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and analyze account variances.
- Analyze and review transactions to ensure appropriate application of US GAAP
- Direct operational accounting, reconciliation and reporting, communication, and follow-up with business partners to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Perform various variance analyses. Partner with business line leadership to identify, monitor, and report monthly results and variances versus forecasts and budgets.
- Implement and/or monitor processes to manage and streamline activities.
- Facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns that create barriers to a high-performing team and work environment.
- Opportunity to collaborate on special projects and perform or tasks or analyses that may include cost analysis, SOX compliance, consolidation, ERP implementations, etc depending on the expertise of the consultant and their interests.
Required Skills/Certifications:
- 8 years or more of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business. Master's degree in accounting is an asset.
- CPA, CMA, CIA or CFE preferred.
- Experience in public accounting, consulting or industry experience related to operational accounting. Big 4 or large national firm experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP
- Experienced with general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, audit.
- Experience in technical accounting is an asset.
- Outstanding knowledge of Excel and experience with a variety of accounting software, including large ERP systems, preferably Netsuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics.
- Experienced in process improvement.
- Strong orientation to service, time management and project delivery.
- Strong communicator with ability to facilitate projects amongst a variety of stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Ability to develop solutions - Independent thinker, quick on your feet.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to travel to clients as needed (approx. 30% of time).
