The Fund Accounting Senior Manager oversees financial reporting and administration for key client relationships within a dynamic and growing business. This role involves leading a top-tier team of accountants and promoting technological innovation to deliver exceptional service quality. Responsibilities include daily service support, new business development, and client relationship management. 


This is a leadership position that is tasked with overseeing the operations of diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring that responsibilities are appropriately distributed among fund accountants to fulfill client needs. This role involves analyzing tasks, providing mentorship, conducting training sessions, and assisting in the refinement and enhancement of current processes and protocols.  

Moreover, the Fund Accounting Senior Manager is responsible for managing intricate reporting and communication for Alternative fund clients and fund managers. 


Role & Responsibilities: 

  • Perform and review the accounting, financial reporting, investor reporting and cash management operations of hedge funds and private equity funds. 
  • Hire, train, coach and manage assigned staff member(s) to perform and effectively meet and maintain assigned clients’ recurring fund administration tasks. 
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and service providers that work with clients. 
  • Manage the accounting responsibilities related to the implementation of new funds. 
  • Monitor and evaluate current processes and technology while working with peers and senior management to improve efficiency. 
  • Maintain books and records in accordance with GAAP.  
  • Prepare and review statistical analyses of cost basis, profit and loss, and inter-company accounts for a variety of transactions. 
  • Onboard and assist new clients with structuring, local regulatory applications, and fund documentation. 
  • Coordinates audits of all funds, including preparation of audited financial statements and footnotes. 
  • Attends industry events on a regular basis and build industry network. 
  • Manage client P&L, scope of work and transformation efforts.   


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • 7-10 years of Private Equity, Hedge or other Alternative Fund experience  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related discipline. 
  • Firm understanding of GAAP, specifically as it relates to fund accounting. 
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience managing a team- training, delegating work to ensure deadlines are being met and providing guidance and support where needed. 
  • Experience completing and reviewing complex calculations such as fund NAV calculations, waterfalls/investor allocations, and other various calculations. 
  • Experience managing clients and third-party service providers.  


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Masters degree.  
  • Experience with Alternative Investment Technologies; Advent Geneva, or Allvue, and willingness to learn new software as needed. 
  • Ability to function in high-pressure situations with competing priorities and strict deadlines. 
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. 
  • Attention to detail, self-management, and ability to effectively prioritize workload and tasks. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to travel to attend industry events.
