We are a small start-up team located in the greater DMV area. We work remotely most days, but gather in our Rockville office on a regular basis. Our days are not 9-5, but we value flexibility and balance. We are looking to hire a Senior Director of Finance & Accounting to help us drive our business forward and ensure our teams are on track to hit big goals. The ideal candidate will have a “start-up” mentality, thrive in a fast-paced environment, have demonstrated B2C experience, and get exhilarated by details big and small.
About the Role
Roda is seeking a Senior Director of Finance & Accounting to play a pivotal and hands-on role in developing and managing all aspects of its financial operations. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring accurate reporting, strategic financial planning, and compliance with relevant regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong collaborative skills, leadership, a deep understanding of financial principles, and a track record of driving financial success.
In this role, you will have the autonomy to do what you do best, which should include the ability to dive into the intricacies of our financial processes, analyze data to provide actionable insights that guide the company's decision-making, and foster a collaborative environment that encourages the growth and development of your team. You’ll be a player/coach - as comfortable rolling up your sleeves to tackle projects as you are working with others. Your experience will be crucial in identifying opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency improvements. Working closely with all departments, you'll help shape and implement strategies that enhance our financial performance and support our growth.
Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy Development: Craft and execute strategic financial plans that align with the company's overall objectives, ensuring long-term financial stability and growth.
- Accurate Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation, analysis, and presentation of precise and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Collaborate cross-functionally to design and improve financial processes, operational efficiency, and overall business performance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, ensuring effective resource allocation and alignment with financial targets.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Compile and analyze financial data to extract actionable insights that guide informed decision-making at all levels of the company.
- Collaborative Leadership: Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment within the finance and accounting team, encouraging professional development and nurturing talent.
- Financial Policies and Procedures: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that adhere to best practices, promoting transparency and consistency.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including parent company Graham Holdings, Graham Ourisman Automotive, auditors, and banks.
- Team Development: Mentor and guide the finance and accounting team, ensuring a high level of performance, professional growth, and alignment with the company's objectives.
- Collaborative Communication: Effectively convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, fostering a clear understanding of financial strategies and insights.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in progressively responsible finance and accounting roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Thorough grasp of financial management principles, encompassing GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data to inform strategic decision making.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP systems, financial modeling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience in driving process improvements, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong ethical values and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance.
- Candidates must possess authorization to work in the U.S.
- Based in the DC, MD, or Northern Virginia area. Role is hybrid with some in person meeting time required.
