About the Role

The Company is seeking an Assistant Vice President or Vice President of Accounting Policy to join their expanding team. The successful candidate will be a key player in the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies, with a focus on providing technical accounting guidance and supporting financial reporting functions. This role requires a professional with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, a CPA certification, and a minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting policy or technical accounting roles, particularly in the life and annuity products sector. The ideal candidate will have a background that includes Big 4 or public accounting experience, and a deep knowledge of GAAP, STAT, and regulatory accounting standards. Key responsibilities for this position include leading the creation and improvement of accounting policies and procedures, monitoring changes in accounting standards, and providing expert advice on complex accounting issues and transactions. The role also involves ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, collaborating with external auditors, and mentoring a team of accounting policy professionals. The candidate should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively with senior management and external stakeholders. The position is a unique opportunity to straddle the worlds of insurance and asset management, and the candidate will be expected to align accounting policies with the company's strategic objectives and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
