We are seeking someone with 3-5 years of accounting experience in commercial real estate in San Diego, CA. The role involves overseeing the full cycle of accounting tasks, including preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, and conducting CAM reconciliations. The role includes the development of annual budgets, cash flow analysis, and monthly and year-end financial reports while collaborating with property management to address day-to-day financial oversight. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 3 years of experience in commercial property accounting are required. Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, as well as excellent organizational skills, are essential. Preferred candidates will have experience with commercial real estate software such as Yardi or AppFolio. The position offers a competitive salary and opportunities for professional growth Responsibilities: • Recommend changes that will enhance profitability by reviewing balance sheets, income statements, and expense accounts and ensuring their accuracy • Conduct monthly payroll audits and issue paychecks • Track and record all accounts receivable accurately, while also generating and managing accounts payable invoicing • Verify general ledger accounts, investigate and correct account discrepancies, and review daily revenue activity list to ensure accountability • Support the daily accounting operations with the creation of monthly forecasts and annual budgets • Oversee the full cycle of accounting functions for commercial properties. • Prepare and manage monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. • Conduct CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations. • Assist in developing and maintaining budgets, including forecasting and cash flow analysis. • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely payments. • Maintain general ledgers and record financial transactions in compliance with accounting standards. • Prepare year-end financial statements and assist in audits as necessary. • Work closely with property management and senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations. • Lease abstracts and tenant onboarding. • Coordination with property management regarding day-to-day oversight of the properties (delinquencies, payables, etc). Qualifications: • Excellent math skills, relationship skills, communication skills, and customer service skills are crucial • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software, such as Quickbooks • Candidates must have at least 3 years of previous work in hospitality, preferably in a full-service hotel • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) • Must have a high school diploma or GED; highly prefer a degree in finance or related field • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial property accounting, including CAM reconciliations. • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel). • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines. • Experience with commercial real estate management software is a plus (AppFolio, Yardi, Rent Manager). • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Familiarity with preparing and analyzing financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
