Responsibilities Interprets data, identifies related transactions and determines root causes/source of problem identifying trends and workable/corrective solutions. Researches and processes a variety of recurring standard and nonstandard accounting transactions for adequacy, legality, and propriety. Prepares correspondence responding to inquiries of a non-routine nature explaining various aspects of accounting and providing detailed and technical explanations of accounting discrepancies or procedural and reporting requirements. Perform technical accounting work including the maintenance, validation, and reconciliation of accounting records for multiple accounts. The duties performed for developmental positions (below the GS-06 level) will be of limited scope and complexity to develop skills, proficiency, and work experience. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This announcement will be used to fill positions with an entry grade of GS-04, GS-05, or GS-06 with a target grade of GS-06. For GS-04 positions: One year of Generalized Experience of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. For GS-05 positions: One year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience at GS-05 is defined as; Performing financial duties that support the processing of financial/accounting transactions using standardized procedures to include reviewing documents for accuracy and inputting financial/accounting information into an automated system and correcting invalid/incorrect transactions. For GS-06 positions: One year of Specialized Experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience at GS-06 is defined as; Applying knowledge of accounting systems, policies and procedures for the examination, verification and maintenance of accounts and accounting data; validating, monitoring and maintaining accounting transactions and accounting records; researching discrepancies and making adjustments. Volunteer Experience: Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Education GS-4: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Successfully completed Two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the general experience requirement. To be creditable, education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim). GS-5: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim). GS-6: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Six months of graduate education may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required when it is directly related to the work of the position being filled. IAW Public Law 112-81 and DoD Policy the incumbent shall comply with the requirements of DoD FM Certification Program.
