Job Description
The Branch Retail Sales & Accounting Clerk will help identify client needs, present and answer questions about our products and service and recommend solutions and provide accounts receivable support to the branch.
A positive attitude and a desire to promptly resolve potential customer issues or complaints will make you successful in this role. Ultimately, you will ensure that customers leave our store satisfied and you will contribute to the store’s profitability.
Sales & Customer Service.
- Greet and direct customers.
- Provide accurate information to customers with attention to detail and after-sales follow-through.
- Cross-sell products.
- Take and direct phone, email, mail, and in person customer, vendor, and employee contacts.
- Fill customer orders by retrieving material from the warehouse.
- Notate back orders or discrepancies.
- Perform cycle counts as required following through on discrepancies as needed.
- Participate in weekend inventory events as scheduled.
Accounting
- Daily Reconciliation and bank deposit
- Code and post payment to customer accounts and general ledger
- Maintain customer accounts
- Process credit card payments
- Prepare bank deposits
- Electronically scan and file documents
- Verify and research discrepancies to resolve customer billing issues
Showroom Administration
- Check in and put away material, verifying quantities and quality of received material. Maintain clear isles and walkways. Ensure material is properly organized.
- Assist in maintaining appearance of branch as needed. Clean warehouse, counter area, bathrooms, etc.
- Keep the showroom updated by ensuring racks are fully stocked and clean. Keep inventory organized and put away.
Creates and maintains strong working relationships with customers and co-workers, treating everyone with courtesy and respect.
Conduct self in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner, following all safety rules. Inform manager of any potentially hazardous conditions.
Perform other responsibilities as directed.
Requirements:Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
· High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
· 2+ years in a sales or office administration position is preferred.
· Basic Math Skills.
· Ability to work in a high volume fast paced environment and still provide a high level of customer service.
· Understanding of the retail sales process.
· Familiarity with consumer behavior principles.
· Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures
· Understands accounting fundamentals such as payables, receivables, and GL Coding is helpful, but not required.
· Beginning to intermediate computer skills and ability to utilize all business systems with proficiency; intermediate Excel preferred.
· 10-Key proficiency.
· High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work Environment: Generally indoor work environment with variable conditions; retail showroom, warehouse and office.
Physical demands:
· Frequently stand, stoop, bend, and kneel.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time while assisting customer needs.
· Occasionally lift 20 pounds unassisted.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk or hear; read and identify numbers.
