VICE PRESIDENT ACCOUNTING

REAL ESTATE - MULTI FAMILY

JOB SEEKERS WITHOUT REAL ESTATE ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

A private west Houston mid-size owner/operator real estate company is in need of a senior financial accounting officer who will eventually succeed the company’s current Chief Financial Officer who plans to retire in 2024. The succession plan is to select and groom a strong accounting professional for additional responsibilities in certain functional areas including property operations, risk management, technology, payroll, human resources, banking, legal matters, and tax reporting. The company will consider candidates that already have these responsibilities in their current role. This position will report directly to the company’s single owner.

The responsibilities of this current position will include the following:

● Manage an accounting team consisting of 2 accountants and 2 accounts payable professionals that provide accounting services for 21 apartment properties and one large self-storage facility.

● Hire an accounting manager to help lead the current accounting organization.

● Be responsible for the company’s financial reporting at all levels from property operations to consolidated reports provided to the single owner.

● Manage the company’s single large scale accounting and operations software platform.

● Implement and maintain all necessary financial controls to ensure financial integrity.

● Report and help manage the company’s cash activities to maximize financial resources.

● Report on other non-company strategic activities including ranch operations, vacant land holdings and the owner’s personal financial activities

 

Desired qualifications are as follows:

● At least 7 to 10 years in an accounting management position with a real estate company specializing in multifamily ownership and property management.

● Experience in managing a large scale multifamily accounting platform such as Yardi.

● Experience in working closely with non-accounting operating departments.

● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to help lead a private organization with more than 140 employees.

● A demonstrated ability and desire in advancing a financial career path into areas beyond accounting.

● A CPA certification and MBA are also desirable.

 

The selected candidate’s initial compensation will be commensurate with experience.
