Principle purpose of the role:

  • Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures
  • Planning, organizing and coordinating the year-end close process with internal and external auditors
  • Ensuring successful completion of the company’s tax filings
  • Preparing financial statements, including cash flow statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Planning, budgeting and authorizing expenditures
  • Hiring, training and retaining competent accounting staff
  • Implementing, enforcing, and assessing internal control policies and procedures

Main accountabilities:

Reporting into the North American CFO, providing strong leadership of the Baxters North American Finance Accounting team consisting of AR / AP / Payroll / GL/Treasury

Continuous focus on developing all members of the North American Accounting team including extending experience, key skills and ensuring opportunities for succession planning.

Leading the annual year end statutory audit process for the consolidated North American Business

Drive the financial controls agenda for the business with the involvement of the Group Internal Audit team, ensuring adherence to existing procedures and additional procedures to ensure a robust control environment.

Leading annual Tax Return Preparation process. Work with external advisors to ensure compliance with all tax requirements and optimize tax positions

Partner closely with the Finance Business Partnering function to understand operational results to support the business in driving profitable growth

Perform continuous assessment of financial reporting processes to reduce the time to close the financial period and drive process innovation

Key Characteristics:

Include:

  • CPA or MBA with at least 10 years relevant experience
  • Ability to connect with people easily across Finance teams and throughout the wider business.
  • Forward looking focusing on team development including succession planning and extending experience across a Finance team.
  • Experience of working in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of managing a large central finance function with an emphasis on producing and driving value from balance sheets and cashflows, financial reporting cycles, and ensuring strong and consistent financial controls across a large business.
  • Must be prepared to get involved in assisting the teams producing and analysing financial information at any time via real hands-on support.
  • Payroll experience and leadership would be useful.
  • Experience of managing and supporting key financial projects including system and acquisition integrations.
  • Managing external auditors through a year end audit process.
  • Wider knowledge of latest accounting and taxation matters and their impact on the business.
  • Highly organised to be able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and a very high attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to travel as role will be primarily based in Cincinnati but expectation of visibility across all North American sites
