About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its mission of restoring indigenous knowledge and practices to the land. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader, working closely with the Board of Directors and Tribal Band leadership to implement a new strategic plan. This role requires a deep understanding of the historical and contemporary trauma of the community, as well as the ability to navigate tribal politics with grace and balance. The Executive Director will be responsible for the organization's long-term growth, financial strategy, and oversight of land conservation and management activities. They must be dynamic, collaborative, and relational individuals, with a strong presence and excellent communication skills, who can engage with various stakeholders, including the tribal community, government agencies, and funders. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should possess a broad understanding of the tribal and California indigenous history and culture and a strong connection to the mission of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit management, experience in land conservation, and a proven track record in financial management and revenue development.
