About the Role

The Executive Director position is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic and collaborative management of the Division of Animal Resources and Attending Veterinarian. The successful candidate will be an experienced domain expert with a focus on sustaining the compliance of the AALAC-accredited core research facility. This includes advancing responsible innovation and impact within the university's significant research mission. The Executive Director will oversee all programs of animal care, ensuring proper husbandry, veterinary medical care, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, the role involves providing leadership in strategic planning, budget management, and operational efficiency, as well as fostering animal care partnerships and engaging in community outreach. Candidates for the Executive Director position must have a DVM/VMD with laboratory experience and be eligible for licensure in the state of Georgia. An ACLAM Diplomate is preferred, as is a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level or above. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of leadership experience in laboratory medicine, with a preference for those who have held senior leadership positions in a veterinary specialty within an academic healthcare system. Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills are essential, as is a proven track record in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. The role requires a results-driven individual with a high level of integrity, a creative thinker, and a problem solver, who can effectively manage a large and complex animal research facility.
