Akkodis is seeking a **Principal Embedded Cybersecurity Engineer** to lead the development and application of cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies for embedded systems used in aerospace products. In this critical role, you will work at the forefront of securing embedded systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and lead medium- to large-sized projects aimed at ensuring the cybersecurity of next-generation aerospace technologies. This role requires security clearance and is open to US citizens only.

Rate Range: $80-$120/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Essential Responsibilities:

As a Principal Embedded Cybersecurity Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Independent and Team-Based Work: Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create advanced cybersecurity solutions for embedded systems.
  • Collaborative Solution Development: Partner with hardware, software, and firmware developers, as well as engineering tool providers, to identify and implement optimal solutions for complex aerospace applications.
  • Project Leadership: Manage and lead medium- to large-sized cybersecurity projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Documentation and Publication: Author technical reports, patent applications, and research publications to document your work and innovations in the field of embedded cybersecurity.
  • Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay at the forefront of embedded cybersecurity trends, identifying new opportunities and advancements for application in aerospace systems.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and government agencies (e.g., DARPA, NASA, AFRL) to drive technological innovation and ensure the success of government-funded initiatives.
  • Proposal Leadership: Lead and contribute to proposal efforts for government-funded projects, shaping responses to agencies such as DARPA, NASA, and the Department of Defense.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 15 years of industry experience; OR
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience; OR
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience.

Cybersecurity Expertise:

  • Familiarity with **CNSS 1.0/2.0** and **NIST cryptographic algorithms** and standards.
  • Strong background in **software development for embedded systems**, with a deep understanding of computer architecture, **Linux OS**, and/or **RTOS** environments.
  • Expertise in **networking protocols** and **network security**.
  • Proficiency in embedded programming languages such as **C/C++**, **Python**, **Go**, or **Rust**.
  • Experience with **Linux OS security** in embedded systems.
