Primary Purpose:
Transport students and ensure student safety while in the school vehicle.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED; Valid Class B CDL license required; airbrakes designation preferred.
Texas State School Bus Driver's Certificate (or enrolled in program)
Safe driving record in accordance with restrictions set forth by TEC 34.003 & Dept. Public Safety
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform required duties safely & effectively.
Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures and techniques preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain proper student conduct on school vehicle.
Experience:
Experience driving a truck or school bus preferred.
Experience working with children/students preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Be a role model; uphold school vision of nurture, character, discipline, and academic excellence. Transport students and/or teachers on assigned routes and/or field trips. Maintain order and proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy. Ensure student safety when entering, exiting, and riding the bus. Conduct regular safety and operational inspections of vehicles. Service vehicles with gas and oil, inspect vehicle for needed mechanical repairs, and inspect and fill tires as needed. Complete required mileage reports, rosters, and time sheets. Maintain cleanliness of vehicle. Attend training to improve job skills and maintain all required certifications. Other duties as assigned.
