The Rapids Warehousing CDL Truck Driver is responsible for timely delivery and pick-up, reporting, operations service, safety and maintenance of equipment to assist in production efforts.

This position is with Helena's manufacturing group which operates under the name Helena Industries or HI. HI's corporate offices are located in Collierville, TN, a suburb of Memphis. HI has provided formulations and packaging solutions for companies around the world for over 60 years. As one of the largest chemical toll manufacturer's and service companies in the U.S., we set the bar for the industry in ensuring the safety of our clients' technology, brand and assets with integrity and pride.

Rapids Warehousing is part of the HI family and is a commercial storage, logistics and supply chain partner that operates out of central offices located in Cordele, GA. What your day may look like

  • Loads and unloads products to and from truck.
  • Verifies load against shipping papers.
  • Transports products by driving truck over required route to proper destination and applies knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.
  • Observes all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline and air in tires including making emergency roadside repairs if necessary.
  • Follows maintenance schedule for having truck serviced and reports any maintenance malfunctions to appropriate supervisor.
  • Operates a forklift and other loading equipment as necessary.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as assigned.
  • Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Education and experience needed for this position

  • Must be 18 years or older if driving in-state only is required.
  • May require driving outside of the state in which case the age requirement is at least 21.
  • Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements.
  • Must pass a substance abuse screening and as a safety sensitive employee, is subject to random substance abuse screening and a mandatory post-accident screening.
  • CDL Class A license is required.
  • Must have a HAZMAT endorsement or obtain a HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of employment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must pass a forklift test.

Other skills that will help you succeed

  • Ability to operate a forklift including a Spyder forklift is required.
  • Understands and follows written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Must be able to enter information into production software.
  • Mechanical skills.
  • Decision-making skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of times in extreme hot or cold temperatures is required.
  • May be required to pass an OSHA respiratory physical.
  • Must be available to work rotating shifts as needed.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

There are potential hazards associated with any chemical manufacturing business but at Helena Industries safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures including engineered solutions and personal protective equipment and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could potentially be harmful to our employees.

The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.
