Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drives truck to destination in a safe and efficient manner.
- Delivers and off-loads material.
- Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Inspects truck equipment daily and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Cleans inside of truck.
- Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have Hawaii CDL Class B Driver’s License
- Detail Oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Applicant must provide a driving abstract and previous CDL B driving experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE — High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS — Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
SKILLS/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED — Meets all federal and state driver's license regulations. Must have a Commercial Driver License (CDL).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS — While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit and frequently required to walk and talk or hear. While performing duties of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or lift. May frequently lift and/or move heavy and awkward material. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT — The work environment requires the employee to work regularly near moving mechanical parts and to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee occasionally is exposed to harsh outside weather conditions. This position may require the employee to use safety equipment such as protective eyewear, earplugs, gloves, safety shoes etc.
