Job Title: Back Office Assistant

Job Overview:
Coastal Oral Surgery is seeking a dedicated and skilled Back Office Assistant to join our team in Arroyo Grande. The Back Office Assistant will support our oral surgeons in providing high-quality care to patients. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of back-office procedures, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine passion for patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Assist oral surgeons during examinations and procedures, including taking and developing X-rays and preparing patients for treatment.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and oral hygiene practices.
• Accurately record patient information, treatment plans, and progress notes in patient charts.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment following established protocols.
• Manage inventory of surgical and dental supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate the surgeon’s calendar efficiently.
• Provide chairside support and reassurance to patients, particularly those with dental anxiety.
• Ensure all safety, infection control, and HIPAA guidelines are followed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited dental assistant program preferred.
• Previous experience in a dental or surgical office setting is a plus but not mandatory.
• Friendly and compassionate demeanor, especially when working with anxious patients.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
