Job Title: Dental Assistant

Location: Lake Orion, Michigan

Job Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive top-quality care and feel comfortable during their visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Support:

    • Assist the dentist during various procedures including examinations, fillings, crowns, root canals and extractions.
    • Prepare and organize dental instruments and materials for patient treatment.
    • Take digital dental x-rays and ensure proper imaging techniques.
    • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatory areas according to infection control protocols.
    • Prepare patients for dental procedures and ensure their comfort.
  • Patient Care:

    • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
    • Provide patients with information and answer questions about their treatments.
    • Ensure patient records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Administrative Duties:

    • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
    • Manage patient records and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
    • Order and manage dental supplies and inventory.
  • Other Duties:

    • Keep the dental office clean and organized.
    • Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as pouring and trimming models.
    • Handle other tasks as assigned by the dentist or office manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; x-ray certification or certification in dental assisting (CDA) is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a dental assistant is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of dental software (we use apteryx and open dental)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to patient care.
