Job Title: Dental Assistant
Location: Lake Orion, Michigan
Job Type: Full-Time
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive top-quality care and feel comfortable during their visits.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist the dentist during various procedures including examinations, fillings, crowns, root canals and extractions.
- Prepare and organize dental instruments and materials for patient treatment.
- Take digital dental x-rays and ensure proper imaging techniques.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatory areas according to infection control protocols.
- Prepare patients for dental procedures and ensure their comfort.
Patient Care:
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
- Provide patients with information and answer questions about their treatments.
- Ensure patient records are accurate and up-to-date.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Manage patient records and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Order and manage dental supplies and inventory.
Other Duties:
- Keep the dental office clean and organized.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as pouring and trimming models.
- Handle other tasks as assigned by the dentist or office manager.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; x-ray certification or certification in dental assisting (CDA) is preferred.
- Previous experience as a dental assistant is an advantage.
- Knowledge of dental software (we use apteryx and open dental)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
