You will provide assistance to the dentist during exams and procedures and complete administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments. Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients into the treatment area and make them feel comfortable
- Discuss the dental care plan with patients and answer any questions they have
- Take vital signs and accurately record medical history
- Prep sterilized equipment and make it available to the dentist for exams and procedures
- Clean and sterilize operatory after each treatment is completed
- Assist dentist during procedures and exams with emphasis on maintaining high clinical standards and patient comfort
- Take diagnostic quality dental x-rays
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date dental records using dental software Open Dental
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and office policies maintaining high standards of infection control and cleanliness
- Be engaged in procedures; learn to anticipate the needs of the Doctor and patient
- Arrive and run on time, making sure the Doctors and patients time is never wasted
- Monitor, order, and maintain stock of dental supplies
- Learn setup for each procedure with correct materials/instruments
- Routine maintenance of dental equipment
- Light office cleaning
- Shutting down and closing the office at the end of the day
Qualifications
- Associates Degree from a school certified by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
- X-ray Certification is required
- Current Basic Life Support/CPR certification is required
- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to provide high-quality patient care
- Spanish speaking is a plus
- Experience in Open Dental is a bonus
- Having had surgical experience is a bonus
