This Activity Director position is with our Rumford Community Home Long Term Care Facility in Rumford, Maine. The role involves planning, organizing, and developing an ongoing program of activities designed to meet the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Requirements:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education.

Possess a certificate of completion of the state-approved Activity Coordinators course or willingness to take the next available course offered after employment.

Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.

Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients/residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for providing quality care.

Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult patients/residents.

Willingness to seek out new methods and principles and incorporate them into existing nursing practices.

Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily when necessary.

Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, implement, and direct department activities.

Develop departmental goals and objectives.

Establish and implement ongoing departmental policies and procedures as per the needs demonstrated by the residents.

Maintain quality assurance records in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Ensure coordination of activities meets specific LTC/PNMI regulations.

Direct and supervise staff, providing orientation and training as needed.

Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Coordinate outside programs with the community.

Develop and implement planned activities in keeping with individual residents’ plan of care.

Prepare budget and oversee expenditures in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Participate in educational programs associated with long-term care to keep abreast of current profession.
