Job Description
Job Duties Include: • Deep clean all soft surfaces, such as carpet, in clinical and non-clinical areas throughout the building. Use a cleaner that allows the floor to dry quickly, limiting downtime and poor indoor air quality. • Deep clean all hard surfaces with an approved disinfecting products (EPA.gov has a list of approved products) inside the building. Pay particular attention to areas between hard surfaces, which can be breeding grounds for organic soils and bacteria. • All vinyl or tile flooring swept and mopped daily with approved cleaning products, and carpeted areas vacuumed daily with spot cleaning soiled areas as needed. • Outside entryways/doorways should be cleaned daily. Any potential hazards should be reported to your supervisor. Entryway mats are the first line of defense when preventing dirt from entering the building, so it is important mats are to be vacuumed and cleaned daily. Cleaning and Disinfection; The effective use of disinfectants is part of a multibarrier strategy to prevent health-care–associated infections and manufacturer label should always be followed. A list of approved medical disinfectants can be found at EPA.gov website. • Infection Control: Review and Complete Eagle Trainer on Bloodborne Pathogens and will train annually thereafter. • Contact Time for Disinfecting; Currently, some EPA-registered disinfectants have contact times of one to three minutes. By law, users must follow all applicable label instructions for EPA-registered products. Ideally, product users should consider and use products that have the shortened contact time. • Red bags and sharp containers are managed by nursing staff. Janitors do not dispose of these items. • Exam Room and Restroom ventilation covers are to be inspected and cleaned on a regular basis. • Interior glass/windows should be monitored for cleanliness daily and cleaned as necessary (front doors, check-in stations, mirrors, or other high use areas should be monitored closely). • Assess opportunities for environmental savings. Even if you're not using green chemicals, you can limit the environmental impact of your business by reducing the amount of water and energy consumed, which can reduce costs. • Microfiber Cloth Use: Reusable microfiber products are highly durable, extremely absorbent, and have excellent cleaning properties. These products, including cleaning cloths, wet mop solutions, and dust pads, can play an important role in supporting infection prevention at healthcare facilities and provide a cleaner healthcare environment. Product label for reusable microfiber cloths must be followed for use in any SICHC facility. • Any accident/incident involving injury or potential injury should be reported immediately to your supervisor. Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Requires short periods of moderate lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to twenty pounds. Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking.
