Director of Manufacturing and Infrastructure 2
to join our team located in
Linthicum or at one of our major sites Northridge, Elkton, Rocket Center, Plymouth.
This position will be a member of the Operations Leadership Team of the division. The selected candidate will lead the Manufacturing and Infrastructure including facilities and Environmental, Health and Safety Division teams across multiple sites in creating differentiated solutions to our U.S. and international customers’ toughest challenges, including Advanced Propulsion, Tactical Munitions, and Advanced Weapons. This position will be responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end manufacturing operations, infrastructure management, facility maintenance, and EHS programs within a highly regulated industry including energetics environments. This role will ensure alignment of manufacturing and EHS functions with corporate strategies, while ensuring that facilities and infrastructure support operational needs and comply with rigorous industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all manufacturing processes to ensure they meet production, quality, and cost-efficiency goals. Develop strategies for optimizing manufacturing workflows, implementing Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance productivity and operational efficiency. Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to improve product quality, production timelines, and overall operational effectiveness. Ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, including ITAR, DFARS, etc. in all manufacturing activities. Direct the management of infrastructure and facilities to ensure they meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements. Oversee facility maintenance, equipment reliability, and infrastructure upgrades to support ongoing and future production needs. Develop long-term facility and infrastructure plans to support organizational growth, including budgeting, resource allocation, and capital project management. Ensure facilities are secure, compliant with defense industry standards, and optimized for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Lead EHS programs to foster a safe and compliant working environment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements. Develop and implement policies, training, and procedures to promote a proactive safety culture focused on risk prevention and employee well-being. Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and emergency response drills to identify and address potential hazards. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and drive initiatives for waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Strategic Planning and Compliance Collaborate with executive leadership to develop strategic plans that align manufacturing, facilities, infrastructure, and EHS initiatives with business goals. Monitor and report on key performance indicators across all areas, driving continuous improvement initiatives and cost-saving opportunities. Stay informed of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes to maintain compliance and keep the company competitive. Prepare and manage budgets for manufacturing, facilities, infrastructure, and EHS, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost management. Team Leadership and Development Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team across manufacturing, EHS, facilities, and infrastructure. Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance. Develop and implement training programs to enhance technical skills, safety awareness, and compliance knowledge within the team. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field of study and 15+ years of relevant professional experience (or 12+ years with a Master's degree). Experienced manager with at least 5 years leading diverse functional or program teams driving outcomes and achieving results. Results-oriented team player, with the ability to handle a rapidly changing set of projects and priorities while maintaining a strong professional presence. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and business acumen. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communications skills, as well as program management, strategy, analytical, planning, and presentation skills are required. Management experience and skills, or other comparable leadership positions, to include management of offsite and matrixed personnel, and employee development. Proficiency in manufacturing management software, facility management systems, and EHS compliance tools. Understanding of Lean methodologies and implementation. Demonstrated experience leading cross-discipline teams, budgets, and schedules. 20% travel is required. Preferred Qualifications: Prior Northrop Grumman Sector-sector specific experience. Prior experience managing a portfolio of diverse and complex projects for Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations. Creative thinking to solve resource challenges for large programs or products. Comfortable making recommendations that have broad organizational impacts. Possess strong interpersonal and written skills; strong organizational and analytical skills; and must be a team player. DoD service or experience with DoD customers to include strategy development, management and leadership experience. Salary Range:
