The University of Miami/UHealth Department of OBGYN has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director, REI Andrology & IVF Services (H) to work in Miami, FL. The Director, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (REI) Andrology and In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Services (H) supervises, coordinates, and participates in a variety of complex technical duties involved during IVF/Embryology and Andrology laboratory procedures. The incumbent performs various assisted reproductive technology techniques, coordinates responsibilities within the embryology and andrology laboratories, resolves laboratory issues, orders supplies, and is responsible for the laboratory’s maintenance of accreditations with FDA, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). The Director leads and manages the overall operation and administration of the laboratory in accordance with relevant state and federal regulations and oversees personnel that are competent in performing test procedures and recording and reporting results in a prompt, accurate, and proficient manner.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensures the successful performance of all procedures carried out in the Andrology and Embryology IVF Laboratory.
Directs senior and junior embryologists and andrology technicians.
Schedules work rotations for staff.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Orders laboratory equipment and supplies.
Maintains all records and forms.
Researches and resolves any laboratory issues.
Participates in research activities.
Presents on a quarterly basis the IVF Laboratory performance review to medical staff (success rates, live birth rates with fresh and frozen embryo transfer cycles, fertilization rates, blastocyst rates, and oocyte and embryo survival rates).
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the Andrology and IVF Embryology written protocols and quality assurance procedures in compliance with University policies and National regulatory agencies. Ensures employees are trained and passing quality controls measures on University policy and National regulatory agencies.
Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessments, and implements and monitors controls.
Department Specific Functions
Direct reporting to REI Division Chief.
Responsible for maintaining all laboratory accreditation.
Oocyte retrieval and Media preparations for all laboratory procedures.
Isolation of oocytes from follicular fluids.
Preparation of sperm for insemination and oocyte fertilization.
Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).
Follow up fertilization and update records accordingly.
Monitors embryos development through different stages and grade embryos on daily basis.
Select and prepare embryos for transfer.
Communicate with medical staff regarding the development of embryos and laboratory findings.
Cryopreservation of embryos, oocytes, sperm, testicular and ovarian tissue.
Embryo biopsy in preparation for pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT).
Semen analysis and semen wash for IVF and IUI patients.
Maintain and Supervise records pertaining to patient care.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Schedule work rotations and schedule for senior embryologist, junior embryologist and andrology lab technician.
Able to work with embryology EMR platform, SART-Compatible.
Responsible for the overall performance and success of the IVF procedures and capable to troubleshoot.
Knowledge of business and management principles.

Ability to establish REI Division and Department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and/or supervise the work of others.

PhD in relevant field.
HCLD (High Complexity Laboratory Certification) certification from ABB (American Board of Bioanalysis).

Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate clinical andrology and IVF/Embryology operations.
Ability to establish REI Division and Department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate, and/or supervise the work of others.
