Job Description:

The Head of Global Sanctions Controls reports into MUFG Bank’s Global Head of Sanctions, leading the Global Sanctions Controls Team with additional programmatic oversight for personnel in Japan, APAC, and EMEA. The position is responsible for directly managing MUFG’s Global Sanctions Policy and Procedure framework, global screening and alert review program, and a wide range of other second-line sanctions controls across all MUFG global regions.

Responsibilities:

Manage MUFG’s Global Sanctions Policy and Procedure framework, including the Global Sanctions Screening and Investigation Standard and Global Sanctions Procedures, as well as provide oversight for the localization of procedures across the globe.

Partner with global and regional compliance teams as well as first line of defense stakeholders to act as a coordinated input channel for sanctions controls, determining where additional guidance or training may be required due to evolving regulatory landscape.

Provide sanctions subject matter expertise and oversight in relation to decisions and escalations relating to sanctions screening systems, from both a tuning and technology standpoint.

Provide sanctions subject matter expertise over risk assessments (e.g., Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Product and Service Risk Assessments, New Product Assessments, Third Party Vendor Risk Assessments, Global Risk Assessments).

Oversee the Global and Americas List Management function.

Manage communication with regulatory agencies, internal audit, and testing.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree.

10+ years of financial services experience with at least 7 years of experience in sanctions compliance.

Sanctions subject matter expertise, including with OFAC and JMOF sanctions.

Experience in developing and executing financial crime/sanctions compliance programs and overseeing implementation across multiple jurisdictions in a global financial institution.

Ability to draft, oversee and implement global policies and procedures.

Experience managing large teams, cross-functionally and spanning across the globe.

Proven ability to anticipate, understand, and execute training based on needs.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Professional level presentation skills.

Experience interacting with third party examiners and banking regulators.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $180K - $240K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
