Executive Director – C.M. Russell Museum, Great Falls, MT
1-29-24 Recognized as one of the first Western art museums in the world, the C.M. Russell Museum is seeking an Executive Director. Inspired by the legacy of Charles Marion Russell, who masterfully chronicled the American West during the decades bracketing the turn of the twentieth century, the museum has 65,000 square feet of exhibition and programming space, a dedicated research center, an outdoor sculpture garden, and the artist’s fully restored home and iconic log cabin studio. The successful candidate will be an adventurous and inspirational cultural leader who is drawn to the appeal of a dynamic, place-based museum, experienced in leveraging the strengths of a 23-person national Board of Directors and adept at leading successful fund development initiatives and cultivating strong community partnerships. With a 30-person staff and an operating budget of nearly $3M, the C.M. Russell Museum serves over 35,000 visitors annually. Minimum Requirements: At least five years of museum experience and a BA in a related field, and/or a relevant combination of nonprofit management experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
