Candidates must have experience working around underground utilities and installing fiber optic cables on conduit or direct bury projects.
What you’ll do
- Install new Fiber Optic Network facilities and service/maintain existing network
- Operates various light to heavy equipment, including but not limited to backhoes, excavators, loaders, forklifts, trenchers and utility plows
- Haul and move equipment from project to project
- All underground construction phases include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weight of construction materials and equipment.
- Performs pre-trip inspections; monitors and reports on the status of vehicle repairs and safety-related issues, keeps equipment clean
- Assists with setting up work sites and ensuring proper traffic and safety procedures have been followed
- Responds to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis; works various hours, including nights and weekends as deemed necessary by manager/supervisor to meet deadlines and conform with changing priorities
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.

Duties and Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of continuous construction project experience operating utility construction equipment
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Must be at least 21, have a clean driving record. A Class-A CDL is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Colorado and Nebraska regions, which will include overnight stays in project areas.
- Solid work history of success with little or no utility damage on projects
- Certifications and/or extensive experience in operating hand and power tools, trenchers
- Ability to expose and identify utilities after they have been located
- Perform daily maintenance checks on machines
- Read communications prints for placing conduit or cables underground
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, subcontractors and clients
- Ability to take direction and work well with others
- Ability to lift materials that weigh as much as 100 pounds
