Manager, Production Planning

plays a critical role and is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the production planning process, ensuring this process runs smoothly, efficiently, and timely to meet the company's goals. This position is responsible for managing a staff of Production Planners to ensure the timely scheduling of materials flow through the manufacturing cycle to meet the department’s short- and long-term goals that are related to fulfilling various order types from dependent and independent demands as driven through the company's ERP/SAP systems. The role also includes developing and managing production budgets, aiming to minimize production costs while maintaining product quality. The Manager, Production Planning will analyze production costs, variance and identify opportunities for cost reduction, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve communication and coordination by using lean manufacturing techniques and other methodologies to streamline production processes. This position compiles and reports on department activities and achievement of goals and objectives to higher-level management. Responsibilities: Plan, schedule and control the timing, quantity and location of materials flow through the manufacturing cells and assembly lines in various production facilities. Pursue cost improvements through increased productivity (efficiency and utilization). Establish production rates and inventory levels, processing and controls performance in accordance with plans and schedules. Ensure on-time delivery of customer orders; optimum utilization of manpower, machine, inventories and time; and economical costs of operation. Define the work order requirements and shop floor schedules to meet customer commitments and the Production and revenue plan. Control inventory levels to minimize material shortage, excess and obsolete inventory, while maximizing customer service, inventory turns and inventory accuracy. Ensure the integrity of the materials process from Material Planning System (MPS), and use the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tool to conduct analytical and problem-solving activities through planning, receiving, stocking, kitting, shop floor control and shipping. Manage Production Planning and Inventory management reporting functions. Assess and plan for production capacity in various production environments to meet current and future demands. Make recommendations for Lean processes within manufacturing stocking associated with Work in Process (WIP) bin sizing, kanban, safety stock and supermarket plans to respond to changing business conditions. Work with NPI and new product releases into both the ERP system and daily processes through cross-functional teams and commercialization releases. Pursue cost improvements through process, procedure and methods control. Maintain accurate production records and generate regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as output, efficiency, and downtime. Qualifications & Requirements: Manager:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations or related field; five to seven years of progressively responsible materials management experience in a manufacturing environment; with a minimum of four years in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Senior Manager:

In addition to the above, seven to ten years of progressively responsible materials management experience in a manufacturing environment; with a minimum of four years in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within a manufacturing and machine shop environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes. Proficiency in production planning software and ERP/SAP systems. Strong communication and leadership skills. Knowledge of safety codes and environmental health standards. Computer literate and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, MRP, JIT and TQM processes and concepts. APICS, and/or Supply Chain certification a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead, motivate and develop employees. Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems is required. Salary: $126,000 - $144,000 + Bonus
