When President Lyndon Johnson declared the "War on Poverty," it led to the passage of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and the Community Action Movement. Programs were implemented to provide services to help move low-income Americans toward self-sufficiency. Today, there are more than 1,200 Community Action Agencies across the country that connect millions of children and families to greater opportunities.
Today, Community Action Marin is the county's official antipoverty agency, with a mandate to eliminate the causes and consequences of poverty in Marin County. The agency is a leader on efforts to create systems change for racial and economic justice alongside its provision of direct services. It has a new strategic plan and bold vision for the future to build power with people, shift the narrative and create new mindsets, advocate to change systems, and provide community-responsive services.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The VP of Development is responsible for leading development and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies from diverse sources to grow the contributed revenue of the agency. The VP of Development will establish clear fundraising goals working alongside the CEO and Executive Team. This leader will plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate strategies to achieve these goals. This position has three direct reports: the Director of Marketing, Events and Engagement Manager, and the Compliance & Grants Manager. A variety of pro bono supports, volunteers, and contracted resources supplement the team in key areas, notably grant writing, story generation, digital campaigns, social media, graphic design, and communications.
